Packaging design
How to create a new design for my products?
If you’re developing a website or a new product design, you cannot simply throw in a few appealing images and expect it to look great and sell well. You actually need appealing typography, a defining colour scheme and especially a great layout. A big part of the experience of packaging design, digital or physical, begins with the fundamentals. If you want to make your product more pleasant to the eyes, that’s where you should start.
Great products consist in more than a fancy package or a great looking banner. They’re mostly about getting your customer to notice and want to try your product. You need to create a truly memorable experience for your clients, and great packaging is the best place to start. In essence, great packaging design is something that any company can afford to do, no matter the size and budget.
What to include?
Sometimes, what counts is not what you include in the package, but what you leave out. In product design and marketing, very often less is more, and the buying and consuming experience is defined by the customer’s perception, not by business assumptions. If your customers can’t identify information quickly enough, they will not be happy. In essence, it’s a matter of removing all that doesn’t matter, leaving you with the core information of the product. Furthermore, if you want to design a great product label, you can’t ignore a single detail of the user experience, so stop looking at products as a solo unit, and look at the entire flow and extension of your brand.
